Amulet 4 – The Last Council

It’s end of August, early September and that means it’s the best time of the year for fans of graphic novels as  Kazu Kibuishi’s Amulet series release it’s newest volume!  THE LAST COUNCIL came out this week and man oh man is it awesome!

Amulet is one of those series that I read and it’s everything comics should be to me:  Big in scope, gorgeous to look at and great characters dealing with issues bigger than themselves.  I wish this comic was around when I was a kid, but as an adult I love it just the same.

I offered my help a couple of years back to Kazu when he was putting together volume 2 of the series and have spent some time, to varying degrees, working on the last three (2-4).  The experience has been one that I will never forget.  For you artists out there looking for a great way to learn, meet awesome folks and help bring an amazing series to the world, I highly recommend taking up Kazu on his requests for help  (there may even be room for you on book 5 still)!

But about the volume!  This volume is in my opinion the strongest of the sequels (I will always be partial to book 1, it’ll be hard to dethrone for me).  The plot is intricate with a lot of moving parts and the mythology of the world really starts to open up here as we begin to learn even the good guys have issues in this world.  It’s  hard book to explain without giving away much.  But if you loved the last three volumes, this one will only serve to get you more excited for the next.  I’m not sure how, but with every new book the art gets better and better and this is no exception.    Be sure to swing by your bookstore and get a copy or pick one up on Amazon..
