business on The Unknowns. It’s been a pretty business month of October. I decided to take part in Inktober and created my Pumpkin-Saurus story which was a lot of fun and helped me hone down to a more controled inking approach. But yesterday I got back to inking on my graphic novel and now things are in full swing. I missed the porject. I figured with this post I would take a moment and talk about what tools I am using to make this book. For inking I have pretty much started using four main tools. Here they be:

MICRONS:

<img data-recalc-dims="1" particular. A size 05 and a size 02. The 05 has become my favorite for this book. It gives me a pretty thick line and also helps me keep the economy of my line order. I use Microns in a way where I’m trying to mimic a brush look at times in that I usually shape my lines, giving them a brush like look at times. These were exclusively the tools I used to make my first graphic novel, FROM DEATH TIL NOW.

BRUSH PENS:

Wes Molebash turned me on to some brush pens he has been using, in particular the Pentel pocket brush. I picked a few of them up and have loved them! The second one there is my personal favorite. It’s smaller brush so I can get plenty of tight line work in and go thicker if needed. They have refillable ink catridges, but I actually ran out of ink and hve been using them like a normal dip brush. It works great and you don’t have to clean them after use which is great too if you keep the cap on them. You can buy these through JETPENS.

As far as paper goes, I use the heaviest card stock I can use to run througha printer. I may have to do a tutorial on how I pencil and set up my inks. I work quite small at 7×10.5 inches on 8.5×11 paper. It works really well for me and helps keep costs down.

Also I wanted to give you all a peek at the second main character in the story. His name is Todd Frederick and he is Chloe’s partner as they go deep into the mystery that is surrounding their city. I wish there was an exhibit like this is real life.
<a
