{"id":691,"date":"2011-10-21T13:41:41","date_gmt":"2011-10-21T13:41:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.michaeleregina.com\/blog\/?p=691"},"modified":"2011-10-21T13:52:58","modified_gmt":"2011-10-21T13:52:58","slug":"unknowns-production-blog-keeping-the-excitement-brimming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.michaeleregina.com\/blog\/unknowns-production-blog-keeping-the-excitement-brimming\/","title":{"rendered":"Unknowns Production Blog &#8211; Keeping The Excitement Brimming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.michaeleregina.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/logo.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-711\" title=\"logo\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.michaeleregina.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/logo.jpg?resize=500%2C172\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"172\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.michaeleregina.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/logo.jpg?w=500&amp;ssl=1 500w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.michaeleregina.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/logo.jpg?resize=300%2C103&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Work is continuing along quickly with The Unknowns.\u00a0 There are a lot of questions I am asking myself about how and when this book will come out to the public.\u00a0 Knowing it&#8217;s such a long process to make one of these books and it can start to be\u00a0draining\u00a0 creatively.\u00a0 \u00a0A lot of the future hinges on how this pitching process goes but there are a few things I have been up to to keep myself excited and moving along swiftly.\u00a0 They might just keep you inspired on your own projects as well!<\/p>\n<p>1) <strong>Remember why you love the project.<\/strong>\u00a0 The Unknowns is a book\u00a0 that gives me chills inside when I think of it.\u00a0 It was one of those ideas where I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when the idea came\u00a0 to me.\u00a0 I pass in front of the laundrymat every day on my way to work and it gets me excited about this idea going out to the world.<\/p>\n<p>2) <strong>Keep it to yourself.<\/strong>\u00a0 With the exception of a few friends and family, not many people have seen any of this book.\u00a0 Which only builds the urgency to get it out there to the world.\u00a0 So you can see it!<\/p>\n<p>3) <strong>Watch a movie or read a book that follows the\u00a0 same feel of the project.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>The movie SUPER 8 was a huge driver for me to get back in the saddle with The Unknowns.\u00a0 I was hesitant to make it just now for a few reasons.\u00a0 I had started work on another script for a book I have since abandoned.\u00a0 When I left the theater for that movie I kept asking myself: &#8220;You know that&#8217;s the kind of story you want to tell, why aren&#8217;t you?&#8221;\u00a0 I went home that night and made the committment to tell the story I wanted.\u00a0 No matter what happened with it.\u00a0 The movie Monster House also really keeps me excited about my project.\u00a0 Though tonally I think The Unknowns and Monster House are quite different, the theme around kids caught up in a paranormal mystery and the humor, are pretty close.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.) Change Things Up &#8211; <\/strong>As you work through on\u00a0 of these books, parts of the process can start to feel stale or boring.\u00a0 When I start to feel a bit burned on a process, I change gears to something different.\u00a0 Just keep the project rolling.\u00a0 Every step you take, gets you close to the end product.<\/p>\n<p>And with that I will give you all a quick update on things and what&#8217;s done.<\/p>\n<p>Script: Done (a few rewrites happening)<br \/>\nThumbnails; 50 pages done<br \/>\nPencils: 50 pages done<br \/>\nInks: 28 pages done<br \/>\nColor pages: 20 done (28 needed
