{"id":1170,"date":"2012-01-18T15:27:13","date_gmt":"2012-01-18T15:27:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/adamsvillecomic.com\/?p=1024"},"modified":"2012-01-18T15:27:13","modified_gmt":"2012-01-18T15:27:13","slug":"rearranging-chapters-sherlock-holmes-and-new-manga-studio-tools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.michaeleregina.com\/blog\/rearranging-chapters-sherlock-holmes-and-new-manga-studio-tools\/","title":{"rendered":"Rearranging Chapters, Sherlock Holmes and New Manga Studio Tools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Adamsville is one book, one story told over 130 pages.\u00a0 And I originally broke that up into 4 chapters, mainly for my sake and just getting the material done.\u00a0 I currently have 77 pages left to complete in chapters 3&amp;4.\u00a0 After breaking all of that up I realized that chapter 3 was 43 pages and chapter 4 was the remaining 34.\u00a0 I went ahead and decided to keep the process fresh and exciting for me as I work, to break those up into a total of 5 chapters of 25, 25 and 27 each.\u00a0 I think this will help me just keep moving along and keep the remaining pages fresh for me as I turn style through them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I also realized I need a bit of change in how I approcah my work.\u00a0 I usually stay up late at night and crank through my pages when the house is asleep, but recently I started working on my pages earlier in the evening after my kids have gone to bed and then spending the rest of the evening with my wife.\u00a0 What&#8217;s been great about that has been I get an even amount of work done and have been able to get to bed earlier.\u00a0 Sleep is important folks.\u00a0 Take care of yourself.<\/p>\n<p>A few months ago I picked up this:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adamsvillecomic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/1101-studyscarlet.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1027\" title=\"1101-studyscarlet\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/adamsvillecomic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/1101-studyscarlet.jpg?resize=600%2C869\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"869\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http\/\/www.amazon.com\/Study-Scarlet-Illustrated-Classics-Sherlock\/dp\/1402770820\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1326899685&amp;sr=8-1#reader_1402770820\">This is the graphic novel version of the Sherlock Holmes novels<\/a> and they are fantastic.\u00a0 But what I really loved about them at first was the beautifully simple artwork by artist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.strangeplanetstories.blogspot.com\/\">I. N. J. Culbard<\/a>.\u00a0 what I didn&#8217;t know was that he was using Manga Studio to produce his pages.\u00a0 When I first bought it I thought man what great line art and this guy really knows how to use a brush.\u00a0 After I looked closer i saw the tell tale signs of digital creation.\u00a0 But he uses two tools that I had never messed with that I think helped his work have a much more traditional look to it.\u00a0 There&#8217;s brush tool that gives the dry brush look to your lines and a cross hatching brush to help it as well.\u00a0 If you own Manga Studio try out these brushes and pick up Sherlock Holmes the graphic novels as well.\u00a0 It&#8217;s pretty fun.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I did a quick drawing of the neighbor from Adamsville testing some of these tools out. You&#8217;ll be seeing this character and some of these tools in newer pages as they fit in.<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1025\"
