The commission begins with an initial meeting between the sitter and the artist, with the signing of the contract. During this time sketches and photos will be taken to help get to know the sitter better. The experience during this time is extremely important in helping to fashion the portrait and gaining a personal insight into the character of the sitter. This usually takes two to three hours based on the availability of the sitter.

After this meeting, early sketches are made deciding on the pose and tone of the portrait. These sketches are then ok'ed by the client if they so choose and the final portrait begins.

Each portrait is generally taking three months to complete at this time. Once the portrait is complete, an appointment is made to receive the final approval of the piece.

*50% of the price of the commission is due at the signing of the contract. And any extensive travel costs are the reponsibility of the client.
